The Asus ZenFone 2 is one of the very pleasant surprises unveiled at CES 2015. Asus really outdid itself in its signature value-for-money territory, outing a phone with 1080p display, 13 MP camera, fast 64-bit processor, and a hearty battery for two Benjamins in starting price.
Design: Taking a cue
Taking a little cue from LG, the ZenFone 2 sports a volume rocker placed fair and square on the back of the phone. By the company's own calculations, its phablet has a screen-to-body ratio of 72%, which falls in the middle as far as 2014 devices are concerned, and offers the passable dimensions of 6 x 3.03 x 0.43 in (152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9 mm), though nothing extraordinary like the G3, for instance.
The ZenFone 2 has a chassis with a brushed metal texture, which again reminds strongly of the G3, and the dual tone flash on the back does nothing to disperse this impression. Asus is not being unoriginal, though, and promises a number of special Transfusion and Illusion models with rather unique shells – the former line combines two colors, while the latter offers some odd patterns to go with the phone's shell.
Display
The Zenfone 2 display is a Gorilla Glass 3-protected, 5.5-inch panel with a flagship-standard resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, returning an excellent 403 pixels per inch count, and offering 400 nits of brightness. There's really nothing to stand out in the screen specs department here, but for this starting price Asus's offering is more than generous, and will fit most everyone's needs.
Processor and memory: first with 4 GB RAM and 64-bit mobile Atom
Asus has a long history with Intel's mobile processors, and the ZenFone 2 isn't breaking that trend, though it is now a trailblazer for the new 64-bit frugal Atom silicon. Namely, it sticks with the LTE-enabled Intel Atom Z3580 processor with four cores that can reach frequencies of up to 2.3GHz, and a PowerVR G6430 GPU with OpenGL 3.0 support. This processor is proven to be both fast and frugal, so you won't have any issues running the latest and greatest Android software on the ZenFone, including heavy 3D games.
The company's biggest surprise with the handset is left for the memory department, though. The ZenFone 2 might start you off with 2 GB of RAM in the basic version, but the more expensive ones will come with 4 GB of RAM, making it the first smartphone announced with more than 3 GB of RAM, which the native 64-bit Android support, and the new 64-bit processors make possible now. Asus claims seven times faster gaming performance than the previous ZenFone edition, which has to count for something.
Camera
The camera at the back is a 13-megapixel unit with 5 element, f/2.0 aperture lens, complemented by a dual-color Real Tone LED flash. At the front, we are looking at a respectable, 5-megapixel selfie snapper with wide-angle (85-degree) lens, and an option to shoot selfie panoramas.
Asus also made it clear over and over again that its PixelMaster software is available with both cams and offers goodies such as a low light shooting mode that can supposedly snap photos that are up to 400% brighter, though the digital noise at this level will likely be pretty visible, too.

- Firstly, I want to thank you Gearbest for very easy and fast transaction. I did order the phone on Saturday and GOT IT ON FRIDAY. Comunication was very good. Out of box big suprise. The rom was ww. But it was the oldest one. Someone did root the phone and did Flash the ww rom from asus there. (phone is on CN rom). I did Flash the latest rom from asus there in 20 minutes. My phone after flashing was a bit playing crazy. But after wiping the cache and factory reset the rom installed properly on it. The system is beautifull. Asus put lots of bloatware into it but after deleting staff I will never use it is just perfect. Built is superb. Does not feel cheap. Battery is ok, but for heavy users will be avarage. Screen, I heard it will be too dark, is Great. Outside you will get a very nice experience with it, even on bright day. Double tap and all feature are working just Great. And the top of tha cake is that LTE is working. 4 GB of ram, Intel CPU, 64Gb of storage, microSD card support and working LTE for that price is brilliant. Cant ask for more. Multitasking and overall responce from the phone is Great. Camera is good not perfect but enough to do the job. I am using my DSRL anyway. This phone offers you a perfect android experience, a lots of multitasking plus superfast gaming. For that pricetag the phone is perfect!!!!

- Después de una larga espera finalmente tengo en mis manos el ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML y vaya que estoy encantado con este terminal. Desde su diseño hasta su rendimiento no tengo más que palabras buenas sobre el dispositivo. Mencionar que en mi caso adquirí la versión de 4GB de RAM y 64GB de almacenamiento interno, dos de los aspectos más destacados que puedo mencionar ya que en conjunto lo hacen bastante poderoso a la par de grandes smartphones de gama alta. La pantalla de 1920x1080 tiene colores muy vivos que en videos y juegos hacen que estos se vean realmente impresionantes. En cuanto a la batería de 3,000 mah puedo decir que me ha rendido sin problemas para navegar en internet, hablar por WhatsApp y jugar uno que otro juego durante todo un día. Sin lugar a dudas un teléfono altamente recomendado.

- Asus makes good phones and this one is not bad at all. The pros of this phone are: 1. Huge memory for both the RAM and ROM; 2. Good CPU with good performance (a little hotty sometimes but who cares); 3. Very good charging times. 4. Full pack of software on board; 5. Good set of sensors; 6. Good support; 7. Quality of wireless connections above average. It is even better than Samsung or Apple for connectivity. 8. Complete PC support set and you can use your Asus phone as remote control for PC.

- 1. Battery consumption. Buy a power bank for 20 USD (Asus one is also a good choice) and be happy. 2. You cannot remove some of the applications that you don't need. Switching to alternate firmware breaks the warranty and this is sad. But overall impression is extremely good and price is perfect. This is really good choice for now.
- Fantastic phone. Camera average but performance is incredible. For normal end user like me this is a top notch phone. Customization is unbelievable and did I mention incredible performance. Features like double tap or lock screen gestures, wow!! Much better option than overpriced high end Samsung or other brand. Delivery was crazy fast, 5 days, and Inbound charges not too bad. To Ireland 68.38€ on 328€ that I paid for phone and tablet. I'm berry happy and planning my next buy :-)

- Es un teléfono que va a la perfección, mismas prestaciones que otros de marcas conocidas y con un gran rendimiento gracias a su procesador. Permite un gran almacenaje gracias a sus 64gb, funciona perfectamente en 4g, hace unas fotos estupendas y la calidad de los materiales es la que se puede esperar de un producto Asus.

- La batería a pesar de ser de gran capacidad si se le da un uso intensivo al terminal visionando videos o en Internet, no supera el día entero de duración. El sonido del terminal cuando do se escucha música con auriculares deja mucho que desear a pesar de llevar un programa para ecualización.

- - Have to manually flash update the ROM from the official ASUS website - Some might not know how to do this and without the latest updates the phone might seem like it has defects but it is not the case, with the latest updates 90% of bugs go aways so don't worry if you have a problem, just access the Zentalk forums. The solution is most probably there
